Portsmouth bids farewell to warship HMS Ark Royal
Some 5,000 people boarded axed aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal after it opened its decks for the final time as part of a farewell send-off. See more on the BBC web site - link. -
My stepson is the Duty Officer on the Ark - he's not a fan of a certain PM who promised in Nova Scotia (pre-announcement) to come back for the celebrations in Portsmouth but was then "too busy" (post announcement)...
Must confess I struggle with the idea that as a maritime nation we will be better off for not having a carriers until the end of decade. You just need to see how things are unfolding in the middle east to see what a volotile world we are living in... A deeply flawed decision IMHO.
