I've seen similar pictures-- but never the video-- before. Man, you're right, that's just feet vertically and horizontally away from an obstruction! First of all, how do they gauge the distance? Must be one hell of a rear view mirror system. Second of all, why are they taking such a chance? They're not under fire, but I only assume that they must be in a fairly dire situation to risk that type of embarkation.
One hell of a piece of flying that is for sure. The loader at the back will have been giving the pilot directions I assume, but an awesome team effort, that is for sure !
