Commentary:  Often called the most common ship in the (Start Citizen) galaxy, the Hull C is the most-produced of the range and is considered by many to be the most versatile.  Intended to hit the ‘sweet spot’ between the smaller single-person transports and the massive super-freighters that make up the rest of the range, the Hull C offers the expansive modularity of the larger ships while still retaining a modicum of the maneuverability allowed the low end of the range.

Just changed the header on the Blog to this fabulous (cropped) one showing an awesome looking sci-fi tank.

This picture speaks to me...  It encapsulates beautifully my interests; wargaming, sci-fi, military vehicles, great artwork, simply love it.  Not sure of the original author, whoever he is, I hope he doesn't mind me using it :)-

Comment: Came across this article on a site called 'Defence Watch; where there are a load of pictures of Turkish owned Leopard 2 tanks that had either been destroyed or severly damaged by ISIS in northern Syria.

Comment:  Taken on Thursday night at my club, here we have a couple of A10s making a pass over the table in a 10mm scale Flames of War 'Team Yankee' game.  I wasn't playing in it, but it looked a fun game.

Picture Of The Week - No 59 - Sherman Tank Called 'Bomb'

Comment:  The tank named "Bomb" of the Sherbrooke Fusiliers regiment on June 8, 1945 in Zutphen, Netherlands. Markings on the side "D plus 365" note how it survived fighting from D-Day to the end of the war, the only Canadian tank to survive unscathed from D-Day to VE Day.

Comment:  One of my favourite aircraft, the Blackburn Buccaneer.  For a short while I was involved with the support of the fleet in the mid 1980s and still retain a lot of affection for the type.  I photographed this particular example at the Newark Air Museum in Oct 2015.

Picture Of The Week - No 55 - Nashorn

Comment:  One of my all time favourite vehicles, the WW2 German Nashorn.  The epitome of the heavy-weight ambush 'Sniper' vehicle in my eyes.

Came across this picture very recently, not one I'd seen before.  Interesting to note the bits of foliage/hay draped over it, and also of special note is the canvas cover for the fighting compartment, something very rarely seen.

Comment:  This weeks picture shows a couple of WW2 British Shermans.  The one on the left being a Firefly, the one of the right being armed with a 105mm.  Main points of interest in the picture are:
a)   Track extenders fitted to assist with mobility over soft ground, and
b)   All the extra track hanging off the vehicles for extra protection.

Picture Of The Week - No 45 - Window

During WW2 to confuse the German radar during bombing raids we used to drop an early form of chaff, code named 'Window' - basically it's shredded tinfoil.  I'd read about this, but never seen any until a couple of weeks back at the old Melbourne Airfield.

Comment:  This weeks picture was taken by a guy who owns a CCKW truck like myself.  He's been storing the vehicle outside, and went to move it after it had been stood for a while.  Fortunately he went to check under the bonnet before starting the engine.  That nest is right up against that fan blade...
