They Were Not Divided - War Film (1950)

A few nights back I watched the 1950 film, "They Were Not Divided".  Some good clips of Shermans scattered throughout it, a short sequence with an actual Tiger I  (0:51:30 to 52:40) and CCKW trucks at 0:16:08 and 1:30:18.

Fury Film

Went to see the 'Fury' film on Wednesday for a late night showing at our local 'VUE' cinema here in York.  Took along my brother-in-law Mike and my old friend Chris Jenkins.  We decided to make the most of the experience and booked the luxury seats and chose the high definition screen to watch it on.  First time I've seen a film on that screen, and was impressed with the 4 x higher resolution, everything was a lot sharper. 

As for the film itself, for the military/wargaming enthusiast this film is quite simply a MUST see.  It's not perfect by any means as the ending is bit too Hollywood for my taste, but it gets a good 8.5 out of 10 from me.  Tiger 131 makes a appearance, my only slight criticism on that front is that we didn't see more  of it.  Attention to detail in terms of the kit used is almost second to none, and from that point of view it must rate as one of the best WW2 films made.

A World War Two Tiger tank - thought to be the last of its type in working order - is being loaned to the makers of the latest Brad Pitt film. The star has been shooting scenes for the action movie Fury around the village of Shirburn in Oxfordshire. The German tank was restored by experts at the Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset, where it is usually on display. Museum director Richard Smith said it was "one of the the most feared weapons unleashed by the Nazis". He said it had a "formidable reputation and could destroy an enemy tank from over 2km away". Curator David Willey said: "The Tiger was restored so that the public could fully appreciate what a truly fearsome machine it would have been during battle. "Now for the first time countless numbers of people will have the opportunity to see a genuine Tiger in a contemporary war film." Remembrance apology He described it as "a unique piece of military heritage" and said its time on set would be "carefully managed and overseen by a group of museum workshop staff". Another tank from the Bovington museum, its Sherman M4E8, also features in the film.

REUE

REUE is the story of 2 American soldiers lost in enemy territory after an ambush. After taking one of the enemy hostage they soon realize they are not too different. A short film Directed by James Cawley made entirely in the state of Utah for under 3K. The short has won multiple awards and has shown at festivals nation wide (Action on Film, Foursite Film Festival, Short Shorts Film Festival and more).
Comment:  Stumbled across this on U-Tube.  Worth watching.
