Thanks for sharing your memories of that :)
...Brian
Thanks for sharing your memories of that :)
Yes, at sport, the Scots will support everyone else apart from the English. As part Scot myself, I see myself sat astride Hadrian's Wall cheering for both Scots and English in equal measure. Actually I don't really consider myself English or Scottish, just British :)Vulturehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00759930564552310327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841828701808552173.post-32535348198084800242012-01-16T12:27:51.480+00:002012-01-16T12:27:51.480+00:00I love hearing stories like this. About ten years ...I love hearing stories like this. About ten years ago, one of the female officers in our mess invited a argentinian officer over to stay with us. Her father had died in the falklands. On the day she arrived, England was playing Argentina in the Rugby World Cup. We were watching it in the mess along side one of our P.S.I's, a Staff Sgt from the Signals who'd fought in the Falklands.
She was gobsmacked to find that the whole lot us were cheering on Argentina - even the sergeant, who was English himself.

She got quite the surprise. But in retrospect, she really shouldn't have. It was an Officer's Mess yes, but it was an officers mess in Aberdeen, belonging to a Scottish regiment garrisoned in Scotland!Dangerous Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11494853825931603065noreply@blogger.com
